The 2017 Porsche Panamera has received a makeover. Now adopting design elements from the famed Porsche 911, the 4-door has been fashioned with a familiar flyline and roof that has been lowered by .78 inches at the back. The vehicle’s stature has been enlarged, its powertrain pumped up, and the cabin experience enhanced.
The Panamera has always featured a long, stretched out body, and now the sedan’s overall length has been increased by 1.3 inches. Sleek new character lines running across the doors lend the Panamera a more wind-swept appearance.
The 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo boasts a new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. Its 550 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque are generous, as is the impressively flat torque curve that plateaus between 1,960 and 4,500 rpm. It’s obscenely quick; 60 mph is dispatched in 3.2 seconds when equipped with Sport Chrono, or 3.4 without.
The Panamera looks like an entirely different vehicle inside the cabin with a heavy emphasis on touch controls. The large infotainment screen, which is no longer cluttered by surrounding air vents, is the focal point of the dashboard. On the center stack, look for touch-based media controls and a redesigned shifter.
