McLaren’s CEO has announced that they will release an entry-level model that is cheaper than its current entry-level model the 650S. The P13 is its current code name, but it is expected to have a different name when it hits the market (most likely something similar to 650S). The P13 will have a starting price of less than $200,000, which is significantly lower than the 650S. This vehicle is designed to compete with the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and other similar vehicles in both price and performance. McLaren’s CEO also noted that the company’s goal is to sell at least 2,000 P13 in 2016.
The McLaren P13 will be equipped with a detuned version of the 650S’s engine, which is a 3.8 L twin-turbo V-8. The P13’s top speed will be about 185 mph with acceleration of zero to 62 mph in 4 seconds. Unfortunately, there is not much information on the car at this point since it is still in development, but it is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Auto show and go on sale in fall 2015.
